"SPRING" - MULTICOLOURED DRAGONFLY BROOCH, 2022
Spring has been selected as part of an extra special collection of new pieces curated by Venetia Porter and her younger daughter Rhiannon Tripp, in memory of their mother & grandmother Thea Porter, who was Andrew's first patron in 1973. Their collection, entitled Thea's Gift, has been created in time for Mother's Day 2023. We hope Thea's Gift will inspire joyful and celebratory gift giving and send heartfelt love to mothers everywhere!
Andrew Logan's brooches are handcrafted and unique. His popular collection of insect brooches include bees, butterflies and dragonflies. Andrew created this beautiful dragonfly brooch in spring 2022 and he hopes his wearable sculpture brings you joy.
This unique dragonfly features an unusual piece of iridescent, metallic glass from Andrew's collection. This glass has an "oil slick" pattern of yellow, green and blue swirls against an amber and earth red background. This glass forms the body of the dragonfly, whilst a grey/blue and black tiger stone forms the head. The wings of the dragonfly are made of petrol coloured cracked glass fragments, which shine iridescent purple, yellow, blue, turquoise, platinum, amber and green. All of these pieces are set into a blue resin base which has been painted with gold leaf, and sprinkled with multicoloured glitter.
The brooch has approximate dimensions of 11 by 12.5 cm and weighs 40 g. Spring has been signed, titled and dated on the reverse. There is a safety pin on the reverse to attach to your favourite clothing and it is hoped this eye-catching dragonfly will become a favourite item of jewellery for its new owner.
This piece of wearable art has been created with love by artist Andrew Logan in his studio in Mid-Wales. This brooch will be packaged in a gift box and sent to you via Special Delivery.
