Giant Swallowtail Brooch 2002
This brooch is modelled after a giant swallowtail butterfly. It consist of 23 pieces of cut glass; 7 of them coloured neon yellow, 15 of them black. the central shard has been painted on the underside before being set in resin. Three repurposed bands of bright yellow beads are arranged between the cut glass pieces. A large black bead, again repurposed, acts as the 'head' of the butterfly and the antennae are made of two pieces of thin copper wire, with a ball of glitter and resin at each of their tips.This is a unique piece of wearable art that will stand out on any outfit.
