GOLDFIELD CHINA MUG
These elegant china mugs are currently on promotion at the discounted price of £50 for four mugs, making a saving of £10 which will automatically be deducted at checkout. The fine china mugs were re-created in 2021 to celebrate Andrew Logan's solo exhibition at Bonington Gallery in Nottingham.
Each mug features 23 golden stalks of wheat, with three butterflies and two mice based on a watercolour by Andrew Logan. The image is printed in golden hues, on a white, fine china, straight-sided mug which has GOLDFIELD 1972 - 2021 and Andrew Logan's signature along the bottom edge.
The base of the mug has an image of Andrew's signature and states it is a fine bone china mug made in Stoke on Trent. Inside the mug is a small image of a mouse, replicated from a hand drawn picture by Andrew Logan. The approximate dimensions are 7.8 cm in diameter, 10 cm high and the mug weighs 238g.
The Goldfield exhibit, on which the mug is based, was commissioned by Jasia Reichardt for the Whitechapel Gallery in 1976. Goldfield gives the effect of a giant wheat field growing in late summer and includes 72 individual wheat stalks, each between 4 and 5 metres high, 5 butterflies and a family of field mice. Andrew Logan says, "Inspired by the Elysian Fields – Goldfield glows gold interspersed with mirror butterflies and mice. A tribute to life, here and beyond.”
