DUGGIE DEATH CROSS, KRISHNA'S WAVE, 2021
This stunning cross brooch was created by Andrew Logan in 2021 in memory of his wonderful friend, the artist Duggie Fields who passed away in March 2021.
Duggie Death - Krishna's Wave is a beautiful piece with many dazzling details. Perhaps the most eye-catching is the turquoise stone at the bottom of the piece. This usual stone has a dynamic quality that resembles waves and alludes to the title of the piece, and Krishna's message that any transformation in us, good or bad, is a wave. Krishna teaches that we are not the waves, we are the ocean – the consciousness.
At the centre of the cross is a concentric circles of deep orange, cyan and clear crystals. These cyan crystals are set above a circle of smaller crystals that creates the appearance of a flower. They run along the width of the cross and also appear at the top and bottom of the piece. The cross has been created using fragments of deep orange and green glass. The orange glass has a marbled, three dimensional effect. Smaller squares of orange and tangerine glass, orange oval beads and rose crystal beads. All these elements are set into black resin which is covered in orange and green glitter. At the bottom of the piece hangs a dark green teardrop bead - please note this is deep forest green, not white as depicted in these photographs.
Duggie Death - Krishna's Wave measures approximately 10 x 15 cm at its widest points, with the green pearl drop adding another 3.5 cm to it's length. It weighs 95 g. Andrew Logan has signed, named and dated the piece on the reverse side and there is a safety pin embedded in the resin, should you wish to wear the cross as a brooch, or convert it to a wall hanging. This stunning cross could also be worn as a necklace.
