MINI FRIED EGG & PEARLS BROOCH, 2022
Andrew Logan brooches are all created by hand. His wearable art brooch pins can be a statement piece and each brooch bears Andrew Logan’s signature. The fried egg is one of Andrew Logan's most iconic pieces and a much asked about example of his wearable sculpture, this piece was created in 2022.
He first created the fried egg brooches for Indian fashion designer Manish Arora for his Ready-to-Wear show for Spring/Summer 2017 on the Paris Runway. Only three were originally made, two for the catwalk show and one was a gift to close friend and collaborator, fashion designer Zandra Rhodes. It is a firm favourite of hers and she adds, “Of course - I now couldn’t exist without my fried egg - what an inspired brooch! I just need a couple of chips with it.”
This admirable brooch features a disc of convex glass at its centre that has been painted a rich yellowy orange colour on the underneath side. This yolk is laid over white resin that resembles a stylised egg white, embedded with pieces of milky white, semi-opaque glass and one fragment of slightly striped patterned glass. There are three pearls and a faceted opaque crystal also featured amongst these fragments. The edges are sprinkled with a generous amount of iridescent white glitter, with some silver and various coloured flecks that give the egg some additional shimmer.
This mini fried egg measures approximately 8 by 7.5 cm at its widest points and weighs 34 g. A wonderful chance to own one of Andrew's most iconic pieces of wearable art, you will be sure to sizzle in this one.
