MONUMENT TO DREAMS SCULPTURE
This sculpture is part of a series of works created to the theme of 'Small is Beautiful' for the international Flowers Gallery annual Show. This was Andrew’s piece for the 40th edition of the show. The work's main focal point is a pair of red shoes encrusted with glitter, possibly inspired by Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz, created as a Monument to Dreams. Incidentally these red shoes had been bought on one of Andrew’s frequent shopping trips with his dear friend the late cult star Divine.
The sculpture features a rectangular, mirror-clad pedestal monument embellished with gold glitter with red fleck, on which a pair of red glitter-encrusted high-heeled shoes sit. The monument sits on a smokey bronze mirror platform, in which the name of the piece of artwork , date and the artist’s signature has been engraved . The edges of the base are finished predominantly with black glitter.
On the platforms corner a group of ‘four visitors have gathered to visit the monument’, set into resin on a mosaic pathway of 10 silver, square mirrors with a generous splash of silver glitter. Two additional figures sit on the opposite side of the platform and all the models have been hand-painted by Andrew Logan.
This sculpture was created in 2014 and is one of the last works made at Logan’s famous London home and studio in Bermondsey, The Glasshouse. It has been shown at Rhiew Gallery in The Lion ‘Art’ Hotel in Berriew, this archival work is now available to buy.
