RED/YELLOW BIRD SCULPTURE

Andrew Logan is an internationally re-known British Sculptor and this elegant bird sculpture is created using Andrew Logan’s signature technique of mosaic glass pieces inlaid into resin. As with all of Andrew Logan's pieces this one has been signed and dated showing that this sculpture was created in 2021, this can be seen beneath the tail.

The bird's neck and part of the of the wings feature orange mirror glass fragments, beneath this is a layer of yellow glass pieces, some with a rippled pattern. The tail end of the bird features clear glass as well as black glass fragments on top of the tail. The head uses the same colours as the tail with the exception of red mirror pieces around its beak. Two beads have been used as the eyes and the bird has a metal beak which has been painted half white; there are also two red beads with black spots on the birds back. All of these elements are set into a white resin base and the edges have been encrusted with glitter to match the colours of glass used.

The bird's legs are made from metal rods painted brown, which is the same material used to create a perch and the long stand that the sculpture is attached to. The rod is one complete piece of metal and stands approximately 77 cm high, although this could be shortened on request. The perch also features two leaves created using more mirror fragments and green glitter.

If using the complete stand, the swallow’s height is around 84 cm from the floor to top of the head.From the perch to the tip of the wings is 18cm. The perch has a width of 7.5 cm and the bird's wingspan measures approximately 19.5 cm.  The length from tip of beak to tip of tail is approximately 17 cm and the bird alone weighs around 404 g.
