THIS YEAR, GOLD & BLUE STAR BROOCH, 2022

THIS YEAR has been selected as part of an extra special collection of new pieces curated by Venetia Porter and her younger daughter Rhiannon Tripp, in memory of their mother & grandmother Thea Porter, who was Andrew's first patron in 1973. Their collection, entitled Thea's Gift, has been created in time for Mother's Day 2023. We hope Thea's Gift will inspire joyful and celebratory gift giving and send heartfelt love to mothers everywhere!

THIS YEAR is a striking and joyful star brooch created by artist Andrew Logan in late 2022.

This eye-catching star features an unusual, smooth oval of decorative amber glass at it's centre. This glass, though smooth, has the appearance of etched or monoprinted lines running across it. Strikingly, this glass has the appearance of being etched in two layers, giving a deep and sculptural feel.

Framing the centre are five triangular sections forming the shape of the star. These have been created using fragments of gold mirrored glass, as well as a selection of glass beads in green and blue, and at the top of the star, two faceted crystals which shine light in all directions. All of these elements have been laid over black resin and the edges decorated with mainly gold and vibrant turquoise glitter.

The star brooch measures approximately 12 by 9.5 cm at its widest points and weighs 49 g. It has a safety pin embedded in the resin at the rear to affix to your favourite garment to bring a bright shine to every outfit. The piece bears Andrew Logan’s signature on the reverse. 

This piece of wearable art has been created with love by artist Andrew Logan in his studio in Mid-Wales in 2022. This brooch will be packaged in a gift box and sent to you via Special Delivery.
