BOOK SCULPTURE - GOLDEN SUN
Andrew Logan is a sculptural artist of international stature, yet someone who delights in creating art wherever he finds inspiration. This book is a golden sun sculpture, created using Andrew Logan’s signature technique of mosaic pieces laid over resin. The sculpture has been created as an ornate, two-sided book cover, with 45 internal, blank, double pages to provide an extremely precious book for a very special, commemorative occasion.
The front cover of the book has fifteen rays of sunshine surrounding a central face which is signed and dated by Andrew Logan. The roughly triangular-shaped rays are created from a mixture of gold/bronze mirror, and multi-coloured glass pieces with various textures and patterns. The face features a circular disc of old dimpled glass with a bronze colour, several pieces of Roman terracotta pot, an Art Deco clip, three crystals and a yellow smile created with a bed of amber and yellow glass tube. The design elements are embedded in resin and embellished with various shades of glitter and bronze leaf around the eye.
The spine of the book is covered in gold leaf and features a orange/gold mirror heart towards the bottom and a bronze facetted crystal above it. There are three rows of bronze and gold glass at the top and bottom of the spine and the edges are encrusted with gold glitter.
The back cover of the book has fourteen rays comprising similar materials to the front face with more chunky Roman, terracotta pieces, bronze square crystals, tiger's eye-type oval beads and two orange glass, flower beads. Here, the edges of the resin are are also decorated with a variety of glitter, with a predominance of bronze colour.
The inside faces of both the front and back covers of the book are also enhanced with pieces of gold mirror glass, set into resin and finished with gold glitter. The internal pages are constructed from high quality, matt black card, left blank to contain your special collection of memories.
The book sculpture has a folded width of approximately 36 cm, a length of 72 cm and a depth of around 5 cm. Due to the high value, weight and delicate nature of the sculpture it requires specialist shipping. A trackable, signed-for delivery within the UK will cost in the region of £200, however, if the sculpture is collected from Berriew, or a cheaper delivery alternative becomes available, a refund will be offered for postage and packaging. International shipping will be calculated on an individual basis.
